Summer Stages Dance @ The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (Co-COMMISSIONER)

For 80 years, the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston has presented contemporary art in all media to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation, and imagination. Alongside dynamic exhibition and education programs, the ICA presents a diverse, multi-disciplinary performing arts program of dance, music, and theater, under the direction of David Henry, Bill T. Jones Director of Performing and Media Arts. The ICA is Boston’s leading presenter of Contemporary Dance having presented the work of Karole Armitage, Bill T. Jones, Mark Morris, Merce Cunningham, and Trisha Brown, to name just a few. Summer Stages Dance @ Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston is a two-week residency, founded and directed by Amy Spencer and Richard Colton, for the creation of new work across disciplines. SSD @ ICA has supported the collaborative projects of dance maker Rashaun Mitchell and writer Ann Carson, choreographer Trajal Harrell and sculptor Sarah Sze, dancer Miguel Gutierrez and visual artist Jenny Holzer, dance artist Faye Driscoll and visual designers Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin, dance theater creator Jack Ferver and artist Marc Swanson, and movement artist Maria Hassabi and dramaturge Scott Lyall, among others.  SSD @ ICA, in addition, has supported nationally renowned dance makers Reggie Wilson, Sara Rudner, David Parker, Arthur Aviles, and Stephan Koplowitz, and their companies, in developing and presenting new or repertory work that engages Boston-based dancers.
